Delicious! Prepare it the day before you cook it and refrigerate overnight for an easy meal on a busy day.

"A crock pot winner! Exactly what a crock pot recipe should be -- stick all the ingredients in at the same time, minimal fuss with seasonings, and come home after work to a fragrant house and a delicious supper! The only change I made was to add a couple parsnips, cut into thirds, and a rutabaga, cut into eighths. The roast was fork tender and absolutely delicious, the vegetables were most flavorful. Simply, great comfort food."

Are you making this?
3 pound Chuck roast; or Arm roast

Servings

Preparation

Arrange vegetables in the bottom of the crock pot and top them with the roast. Add the water. Pour Kitchen Bouquet on top of the meat to coat it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining spices on top of the meat. Cover and cook on low for 7 hours. Leftovers make excellent stew, soup, or roast beef sandwiches.

Notes

The leftover roast makes good sandwiches, soup, or stew.

Made first time on November 23, 2013 for Rose, Kelly and Troy in Manville. Everyone liked this 'comfort' food.

This was my first attempt at a pot roast and I was really looking for a roast that fell apart as I put my fork into it. I wasn't quite sure that was going to be achieved with the amount of water the recipe called for, so I just filled the crock pot till it covered the roast. I added the whole packet of Lipton onion soup mix. I started it in the in the evening so that I could have it the next night and let it cook overnight. I'm glad I cooked it for nearly 24 hours because it took that long for the cut of chuck roast that I chose to to get to that 'fall apart' stage. I was very pleased with this recipe for providing me with the basics and I'm looking forward to building upon this recipe.

Very good, but I would suggest putting the veggies in during the last hour or two. Definitely a keeper!

I'm making this tomorrow and am confused about the water measurement lol (not much of a cooker) so I don't know...haha I would think there would be more water? 7/32 seems like a tiny amount! Help!
