This green salad with its dressing is wonderfully authentic in taste to the salad served at the "Olive Garden" restaurants. The dressing recipe makes enough dressing to cover a large bowl of salad. I only use two thirds of the dressing, but use more according to your taste. I like to use homemade extra large croutons in this recipe.

"I made this for a New Years Eve gathering with family and friends. They loved it, I loved it. The dressing isn't exactly like Olive Gardens, but it's still good and better the next day. (I had all the ingredients except for the corn syrup. I didn't want to go to the store so I just left it out and added a tad more sugar.) I've made another bash of the dressing just to have for other salads. The salad itself is close enough to Olive Garden's that I won't be spending much money there anymore. "

1/2 cup Mayonnaise
1/3 cup White vinegar
1 teaspoon Vegetable oil
2 tablespoons Corn syrup
2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons Romano cheese
1 clove Garlic
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon Parsley flakes
1 tablespoon Lemon juice
1 tablespoon Sugar; (optional)
1 bag American blend Dole salad
4 sliced rings Purple onion; (halved)
8 jumbo Black olives; (pitted)
6 Banana peppers; (pepperoncini)
1/2 cup Croutons
2 Roma tomatoes; (quartered)
Parmesan cheese; (freshly grated)
Pepper corns; (freshly ground)

Original recipe makes 6 Servings

For the dressing:

Mix the first eleven ingredients in a blender until well mixed. If this is a little to tart for your own personal taste, add 1 Tablespoon of sugar.

For the salad:

Pour 1/2 package of the salad blend into a large salad bowl. Top with 1/2 of the onion, olives, banana peppers, croutons and tomatoes. Add dressing to taste and toss well. Add the other 1/2 bag of salad and more dressing to taste. Toss well. Top the salad with the remaining onion, olives, banana peppers, croutons and tomatoes.

Pass the grated parmesan cheese and black pepper mill at the table.

I really wanted to love it and was so excited to make it and it doesn't look like olive garden dressing, it doesn't taste like it at all, I think the corn syrup shouldn't even be there at all, way too much vinegar and honestly just nasty. I followed the recipe 100% and used measuring spoons and cups and all. Both my husband and I hated it. Gross.

Fantastic salad. It tastes just like the Olive Garden's salad.

Awesome dressing, the only thing I did different was added a tbsp of sugar instead of a tsp cuz i like it a little sweet
