Put warmed buttermilk, melted shortening, and sugar into mixing bowl.
Mix together flour, flour, yeast, salt, and baking powder. Add flour mixture slowly to liquid and beat until smooth (plus a little longer). Let rise 10 minutes. Shape into rolls. Let rise 30 minutes. Bake 400?F. for 15-20 minutes.
For Doughnuts:
Fry the doughnuts in hot oil, about 375?-400?F. until brown, turning once. Roll in cinnamon sugar.
