Steamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and oatmeal cookies would fit the rustic theme.
"I just made this and find the recipe to be clear and easy to follow. There are not a lot of ingredients, and the dish is still tasty. I did not have sage, but I did add sliced mushroom.
I also used the fried apples I made last night, from here, which had a little light brown sugar added to the plate.

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in large skillet over medium heat. Add sausages and cook until beginning to brown, turning occasionally, about 5 minutes.
Add onion and apple to sausages in pan; cook until tender and brown, stirring often, about 5 minutes.
Add apple cider and chopped sage; increase heat to high and stir until liquid is slightly reduced, about 2 minutes.
Stir in lemon juice. Season to tasted with salt and pepper.
Using slotted spoon, transfer onion and apple to 2 plates, dividing equally. Top with sausages. Whisk remaining 2 tablespoons butter into cider mixture.
Season sauce to taste with salt and pepper. Drizzle over sausages and serve.

Holly88 2y agoWe enjoyed this very much. I used fajita chicken sausage which gave a nice balance with the sweetness of the apples & onions. We will be making this often!

SammiGee 5y agoVery easy to make, will leave out the 2 tablespoons of butter next time, it took the taste away from the sausages.
lonegunman 5y agoI had this tonight 1-18-10. I wasnt as thrilled as I had hoped. I would make it again though. Was something different. I think next time I will leave out the sage.

Danpas 6y agoI left the sage out & accidently put apple cider 'vinegar' instead of juice... I just added some palm sugar & a little mild Indian curry powder, my dinner guests loved it! I'll be doing this one again, nice & easy.
cleverkt 8y agoI made this cause I thought the kids would like it. No such luck, my husband really didn't enjoy it either. I on the other hand thought it was divine. So I will make again, but only for myself. Sage is not kid friendly!
