In a large casserole add water and bring to a boil.
Remove from heat and add salt and margarine.
Stir maize meal in slowly until mixture is stiff, stir it thoroughly.
Turn heat down considerably and cook for another 30 minutes until cooked.
Make/buy tomato & onion sauce
Fry bacon, mushroom and green pepper seperately.
Preheat the oven to 180? C (350? F)
Grease a oven proof dish (? 32x24x7 or 13x10x2")
Layer half of the mielie meal in dish.
Then layer the tomato & onion sauce, bacon, mushrooms and green pepper.
Grate the cheese over the dish.
Once done pour fresh cream.
Use a fork and spoon to layer the last half of the mielie meal.
Add the rest of the layers.
Finish with fresh grounded black pepper.
Bake in oven for approx. 30-45 minutes till golden and crispy.
Can make just one layer and it can be frozen.
