Meanwhile, thoroughly whisk together the dressing and mayo(or whatever you used) until combined.
Add the cooked (and still hot) pasta and stir.
Since the pasta is still hot it will soak up some of the sauce.
Let it cool.
Once cooled, add the remaining ingredients.
