1/2 c White granulated sugar; 125 mL
1 c All-purpose flour; 250 mL
2/3 c Unsalted butter; 150 mL, cold
1/4 c White granulated sugar; 50 mL
1 c Crushed amaretti cookies; 250 mL
Vanilla ice cream; or whipped
1/4 c Pear brandy; or amaretto 50 mL
3 lb Pears; 1.5 kg
1/2 c Brown sugar; 125 mL

Peel pears. Cut in half. Remove cores with a melon baller. Slice pears. Combine pears with liqueur and sugar. Combine amaretti cookie crumbs with flour, brown sugar and white sugar. Cut in butter until it is in tiny bits. Arrange pears and their juices in the bottom of a buttered 9"X13"/3L baking dish. Sprinkle crumb mixture on top. Bake crisp in a preheated 375F/190C oven for 50 to 60 minutes or until pears are really tender. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream. NOTES : Makes 8 to 10 servings

Have done this dish twice now With minor alterations As in using Ginger cookies And the results have been very very tasty
