Top-ranked recipe named "Perfect Belgian Waffles"
Not a light recipe, but perfect for an occasional treat. These are awesome served with warmed maple syrup or topped with sliced fresh berries.
"This was a very good recipe. I'm still looking for something a with a touch more sweetness in the batter. Maybe a buttermilk and little more sugar recipe. We were still very happy with the results of this recipe. I have made other belgian waffle recipes and the ones with the egg whites beat until firm like this one turn out best."
Combine flour, leaveners, salt and sugar and whisk to mix. Add water, egg yolks and vanilla and whisk until smooth. Whisk in melted butter.
Beat egg whites in another bowl to stiff peaks, then fold into batter, half at a time.
At first, it will seem very lumpy, but keep folding and it will smooth out.
Pour into waffle iron and bake until golden brown.
Serve hot with fresh sliced berries or warmed syrup.

mogriff1 2 years agoVery good! Didn't have cake flour so I used regular all purpose flour. Hubby and I reallt enjoyed these.

Trtlmay 2 years agoI used Beyette's method since I didn't have cake flour and they were fabulous! I am sure they'd be great the right way, but I don't always have those ingredients. Light, fluffy and oh so sweet!!

beyette 3 years agoGood recipe! I used buttermilk instead of water, added 1/2 cup of sugar, and self rising flour instead of cake flour, all purpose flour, leavening agents. It's a short cut and turns out very well! Family loved it! Thanks for sharing
