Use for grilled chicken or chops. Brush, mop (preferred), or spray the sauce on meat frequently during grilling.
Add all ingredients to a large pot. Bring just to a boil over high heat, reduce to a low heat just below a simmer for about 45 minutes. Remove from heat. Let cool till just warm so oil does not separate in sauce. Strain to remove solids to facilitate mopping or spraying of sauce (if spraying, use a fine strain to remove solids).
Can be used right away while still warm (keep warm to avoid oil separation). A BBQ mop is preferred over brushing or spraying. Turn meat frequently, mopping with sauce after each turning. Stop mopping for last few minutes of grilling, still turning the meat, to allow surface browning.
Sauce can be cooled to room temperature, then stored in airtight container in refrigerator for weeks. Simply warm back slowly on stove, stirring occasionally to incorporate any oil separation.
