This sauce will remind you of the little "red hot" candies, and is what I serve over Apple Brown Betty, with ice cream if possible!
Mix sugar and flour in a small pot. Stir in water. Cook gently stirring constantly until slightly thickened. Add butter and simmer 6-8 more min. Remove from heat. Whisk in cinnamon rum flavor, cayenne and vanilla. Makes one and a half cups.
The cayenne in this recipe does not make the sauce very spicy, but if you do not like the little candies, this might be too hot for you, so omit the cayenne.
