This is how my family prepares rice
1) In a medium pan at medium-high heat place vegetable oil and toast the rice
2) once toasted add water salt and spices and stir
3) when simmering starts turn heat to lowest setting and cover
4) rice is ready when all water is absorbed
Toasting the rice requires constant stirring until grains turn solid white. Don't allow the rice to burn.
do not stir rice once you reach simmering
Do not remove lid until rice is ready (20-30 mins)
