Like most of my recipes, this is a combination of several others because I couldn't find one that was exactly what I wanted.

First time I made it, I left out most of the sugar -- it definitely is better with the sugar.

Next time, I forgot to add the soda. Once I remembered and added it, I liked it MUCH better.

Making it last night, we only had 1/4 c of rum. We substituted 1/4 c of a bottled LI Ice tea mix, with rum, vodka, gin, tequila and triple sec. Served the sangria garnished with a few fresh raspberries floating (just uploaded a picture, too). Fantastic! As tripletmama wrote - you'll be the star of any party where you serve this! "

Are you making this? 
1 orange; sliced
1 Lemon; sliced
1 lime; sliced
1 green apple; sliced
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup rum
1 bottle red wine
1 can lemon-lime soda
1 cup orange juice

Original recipe makes 10



Put all fruit into a pitcher and add rum and sugar. Refrigerate for 1 or 2 hours, then crush fruit slightly so that juice comes out. Add wine and orange juice. The flavors intensify if allowed to chill overnight before serving. Add lemon-lime soda right before serving (otherwise it will go flat).

I love this sangria!! I've made it a few times and everybody raves about it each time. For the rum I use Bacardi limon and it adds just a lil more citrus kick. And for the wine I use a Shiraz/merlot blend. It's always perfection! The next time I make this I'm gonna try a white version w a Pinot Grigio:)

Gold stars for this one! We were delighted with the tasting of this wonderful concoction, I was enjoying compliments all evening! The lemon lime soda was really the difference here, making it the hit of the evening. A+. I will be making this often!

This recipe was great. I added an additional can of lemon/ lime soda and 1/2 cup of triple sec. YUM...this came out so delicious! Thanks for the recipe.
