Sausage for biscuits and gravy.
Brown sausage in a large skillet. Remove the sausage leaving the fat in the skillet; you will need 4 tablespoons. You may have to add some oil to make up the difference. Heat drippings until hot; add the flour and bring to a simmer, stirring until smooth. Add milk, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until mixture has thickened. Add the sausage and place in a sprayed slow cooker. Cover and turn on LOW until ready to serve. In about one hour of holding works best.
NOTE: There is a lot of sausage in this recipe and it could easily serve 6 by making half again as much gravy, but the same amount of sausage.
