Breakfast sausage gravy. Perfect with buttermilk biscuits & eggs over easy.
Brown sausage with onions. Drain off all but 2 TBS grease. (I don't usually have any extra grease, and it still works out fine.) Mix flour into sausage, 1 TBS at a time & stirring frequently. Add the water, starting with 2 cups, stir until it looks thick. If you want more gravy, then add another cup of water. Add remaining ingredients & stir until thickened. Note: Brown sausage on med-high heat, then reduce to medium or medium low as you start to add the flour. Ensure the gravy is bubbling (simmering) as it thickens and make adjustments to the heat as needed.
