This is the cheesiest mac and cheese with out the overwhelming taste of cheese, the combination of ingredients levels out this wonderful southern dish for a great tasting classic.
Here's what you do. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
cook macaroni and let cool.
To make time short you can buy most of the cheese shredded already.
The ones you can't shredd.
Combine all the cheese in a big mixing bowl (except for the cheese for the topping of coarse).
Then add the flavorings as indicated at the top of page.
Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated nicely, add macaroni mix well.
If a little dry add more buttermilk. Let sit for 15 min. to let
everything get to know each other:)
Transfer mixture to a baking dish big enough to hold the mac and cheese.
Bake for 1hr. covered and then remove covering and add the cheese topping
and bake for another 45 min. or until topping is golden brown.
Let your great smelling dish rest before serving. Enjoy!
