Put ice an old-fashioned glass while you prepare the drink in another.
In the second glass, add the sugar cube and bitters, followed by crushing the sugar cube. Add the whiskey.
Dump out the ice from the first glass, swirl the absinthe around to coat the inside of the glass - pour out the remnants. Pour the second glass contents into the first glass.
Garnish with lemon peel, consume.
