Ready in 1 hour
Very rich side dish; great with winter roasts.
Heat oven to 350. Wash potatoes and slice thinly. In greased 2-qt casserole, arrange potatoes, ham, and cheese in 4 layers, sprinkling each layer with 1 tbsp onion, 1 tbsp flour, 1/4 tsp salt, a dash of pepper, and dotting each with 1 tbsp butter. Heat milk just to scalding and pour over potatoes. Cover and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 60-70 minutes longer or until potatoes are tender. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving.

daresab 2y agoLove it! I did make a cheese sauce with the butter, onions, seasonings, flour, and milk though.
Pixiewish 3y agoThese turned out lovely. I'll definitely be making these again
L2L 3y agoThis dish was yummy!!! The only thing I will do different next time is add the cornstarch to the ho t milk instead of sprinkling it on the potatoes before baking. *I subbed cornstarch for the flour.
Monebrake 3y agoI used my leftover ham from Christmas to make this dish. This was a simple dish that had lots and lots of flavor! I added some peas and hot rolls....all plates were clean!

jonrobbins 4y agoAwesome! The family was happy! Great for a Sunday side!
MrsVanLoo 4y agoGreat recipe! I made the sauce though and poured it over the potatoes and ham. To make sauce: Cook onion in butter over medium heat until translucent, stir in flour until bubbly, slowly add milk while stirring; stir until sauce thickens, stir in cheese until melted; remove from heat. I think that next time I will leave the foil on for longer, as the top was over browned for my liking.
