Top-ranked recipe named "Scalloped Potatoes and Ham"
A hearty main course that tastes great.
"I used leftover spiral cut ham, not cubed as that is what we had on hand. Also added a handful of shredded cheddar. It was SOOO good that we made it again 2 days later without the ham. This also inspired us to purchase a new food processor to slice the potatoes quickly, :-)"- BigTenMom
To make sauce, cook onion in butter or margarine till tender but not brown. Stir in flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Add milk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes more.
In a 2 quart casserole place 1/2 of the cubed ham and half of the sliced potatoes. Cover with half the sauce. Repeat layers. Bake covered in 350 F oven for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 30 minutes more or untill potatoes are done.

tracyes11 10 months agoLove this recipe. I make a double batch and use bigger baker. I also ad a layer of grated swiss cheese in the middle! Fabulous!
denisejgriffith 1 year agoVery good. Added to my personal recipe book. I added shredded parmesan to the layers and also to the top after removing foil during baking. Only change is less salt...parmesan added some and with the ham already, it didn't need much of what the original recipe called for.
