Ready in 1 hour 45 minutes
A hearty main course that tastes great.
"I used leftover spiral cut ham, not cubed as that is what we had on hand. Also added a handful of shredded cheddar. It was SOOO good that we made it again 2 days later without the ham. This also inspired us to purchase a new food processor to slice the potatoes quickly, :-)"
To make sauce, cook onion in butter or margarine till tender but not brown. Stir in flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Add milk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes more.
In a 2 quart casserole place 1/2 of the cubed ham and half of the sliced potatoes. Cover with half the sauce. Repeat layers. Bake covered in 350 F oven for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 30 minutes more or untill potatoes are done.

Vii 2w agoVery easy to prepare and the taste is delicious. I'll include to the our weekly menu.
prestone 2w agoJust wondering how this can be ready in 1 hour, as stated at the top, when the baking time alone is 1 and 1/2 hours?
glorystahley 1m agoI love this as a basic scalloped potatoes recipe. I omit the ham and add extra potatoes and onions. Also add garlic and definitely rosemary. Absolutely everyone loves it when made like that! Cheese on top optional but not necessary
dheriot1 11m agoMy family loved this recipe. Will definitely make again
thamesfamily 12m agoBig hit with my boys. They loved it so much that they ate half of the dish before I could even take a picture! Big hit.
annaglabe 1y agoDelicious as is! My husband is a picky eater and he went back for seconds and thirds. I added this recipe to my favorites :)
bucky1 1y agoI made this the other day. It was great! Better than my recipe. Will use this one all the time, from now on!
tracyes11 1y agoLove this recipe. I make a double batch and use bigger baker. I also ad a layer of grated swiss cheese in the middle! Fabulous!
denisejgriffith 1y agoVery good. Added to my personal recipe book. I added shredded parmesan to the layers and also to the top after removing foil during baking. Only change is less salt...parmesan added some and with the ham already, it didn't need much of what the original recipe called for.
