Mix together the flour, sugar and baking powder. Cut in 6 tablespoons of butter. Add your choice of ingredients to flavor scone. I use some of the following varities
2/3 c dried blueberries - glaze would be lemon and confect. sugar
2/3 c dried craisins- glaze would be orange juice and confect. sugar
2/3 c. chocolate chips- glaze would be confec. sugar, vanilla and milk
2/3 c dried cherries- glaze would be drizzled chocolate
2/3 c fresh apples and I add a little cinn.to dough too.- glaze would be apple cider and confec sugar or drizzle with carmel sauce
After you add your ingredients, stir in the heavy cream. The dough will be hard to stir.
Drop by tablespoon full onto baking stone. Bake about 20 minutes until they just start to brown and top and toothpick comes out clean. Let cool about 5 minutes then top with glaze.
You also can cook them in a scone pan which you can get a cook stores. In a scone pan that holds 8, they take about 20 minutes as well.
