Preheat oven to 375. Wash squash. Cook whole in boiling salted water to cover to 8 minutes, or until tender but still firm. Drain and cool slightly . Trim, off stems. Cut squash in halves lengthwise;remove pulp, leaving a firm shell. Coarsely chop pulp and set aside. Chop cooked shrimp and set asides.
Saute onion and garlic in 3 T butter until tender. Stir in salt, pepper, soft bread crumbs, and squash pulp. Cook over medium heat 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and cool. Stir in egg, parsley, thyme, bacon and shrimp. Place squash shells in 9x13 in baking dish. Spoon shrimp mixture into shells. Combine dry bread crumbs and 1 T butter and sprinkle over tops. Bake for 25 minutes.
