Top-ranked recipe named "Simple White Cake"
Great to make with kids, especially as cupcakes. Very simple and easy.
"I love this cake! It's very easy, and tastes amazing! I have made it three or four times now and will continue making it because my whole family loves them and requests my 'special cupcakes' very often. Thanks for the great recipe!"
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9x9 pan or line muffin pan with paper liners. In medium bowl, cream togehter the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth. Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in preheated oven. For cupcakes bake 20 to 25 minutes. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.

hemmed45 1 month agoThe was simple enough for my school aged grandsons and I to make. Unfortunately, no one found this cake tasty enough to want seconds.

amygoostree 5 months agoNot sure what I did wrong but it turned out more like cornbread. When making a cake instead of cupcakes, it turned out really dense. It has potential but not sure how to correct the problem I'm having with this recipe. I even cooked it way less than the suggested time.
Hannahcain 5 months agoWas in a hurry and away from my usual cookbooks, hastily began this recipe for a character cake tin and was disappointed it did not quite fill (box mix does the trick). Only baked 20 min, finished moist and airy because I exchanged applesauce for sugar 1:1. Tastes fine. If you need a character tin or layer cake, increase 50% (i.e. 3 eggs, 2 1/4 c flour, etc).
