Ingredients

1 cup Granulated Sugar
1/2 cup Butter
2 Eggs
2 tsps vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 3/4 tsps baking powder
1/2 cup milk

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9x9 pan or line muffin pan with paper liners. In medium bowl, cream togehter the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth. Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in preheated oven. For cupcakes bake 20 to 25 minutes. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.

I'm giving this a 3 only because maybe I did something wrong - but I cannot imagine what that could be? Very dry, my buttercream frosting was great and I put a ton on it and the kids didn't notice, but was very disappointed, sorry!

Maybe it makes good cupcakes but as a cake it is too dry and dense. I tried it several times...I give up. If you need a sturdy dense cake this is it. If you want light and fluffy, keep searching.

I tried this recipe and the cake was very dense and dry, Thankfully I can make some kick ass buttercream frosting. Very disappointed oh well time to try a better recipe

Made as cupcakes, and I thought this came out ok, just a lot heavier than expected. Perhaps using cake flour rather than regular flour would make a difference? I'll try again in the future.

I added 1 tbls vegetable oil to milk. Also added a tsp maple flavoring. Frosted with maple flavored frosting.
