Great recipe for children.
Mix yeast with the water. Let stand a few minutes. Add sugar and regular salt. Add flour and mix. Knead dough until smooth. Form into a ball and pull off golf ball sized pieces (using floured hands). Roll into strips and twist into pretzel shape. Place on greased cookie sheet. Baste with beaten egg and sprinkle with Kosher salt.
Bake at 425 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes, until golden.
Any shapes can be made. One recipe will make the whole alphabet. Kids make animal shapes, twist into baskets, etc. Fill some with cheese and meat.
