Top-ranked recipe named "Spaghetti Sauce"
This sauce came from a good friend's Italian Mother-in-law. It is easy, and by far the best homemade sauce I know of. Great for both Spaghetti and Lasagna. Pssst...the secret is the sugar!
"This is really a PHENOMINAL spaghetti sauce recipe! It tastes TRULY authentic! To give the sauce a VERY DELICIOUS zip I added between 1/4 and 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red peppers before cooking the sauce. As far as the sugar goes, I put in a full 2 tablespoons and it seems to be PERFECT! I agree that it's the sugar that really makes this sauce great! I also agree that I will never buy already made spaghetti sauce again! This recipe has spoiled my family and has brought our spaghetti dinners to a whole new level!"- billatkublakhan
Blend the stewed tomatoes and crushed tomatoes in a blender. In a stock pot or large kettle, brown the ground beef with the onions, peppers, and garlic. Pour in tomatoes, and reduce heat. Add sugar, basil, bay leaves and oregano, and simmer about 40 minutes.
Remove bay leaves and season with salt and pepper before serving.
I found this recipe on the internet a long time ago, but the originator of the recipe is unknown. It is presented here with his own comments. This is better than any spaghetti sauce I have EVER tried!

Mrsswill 3 months agoTastes great. I changed a few things. I halved the sugar and added a Half a cup of wine, did half Italian sausage and half beef and used two can of diced tomatoes. Next time I will also blend th tomatoes more since mine cam out more like marinara.

andrewfawcett 1 year agoWill try substituting some wine for the sugar next time but great taste overall.
andrewfawcett 1 year agoNice tasting sauce. Use some Italian sausage and chuck in some wine (reducing the sugar) and take it up a level.
mogriff1 2 years agoThis sauce was pretty tasty. I had to add more salt, pepper and garlic because it was a little bland. It was also a little too sweet; next time I will use less sugar.
