This sauce came from a good friend's Italian Mother-in-law. It is easy, and by far the best homemade sauce I know of. Great for both Spaghetti and Lasagna. Pssst...the secret is the sugar!
Blend the stewed tomatoes and crushed tomatoes in a blender. In a stock pot or large kettle, brown the ground beef with the onions, peppers, and garlic. Pour in tomatoes, and reduce heat. Add sugar, basil, bay leaves and oregano, and simmer about 40 minutes.
Remove bay leaves and season with salt and pepper before serving.
I found this recipe on the internet a long time ago, but the originator of the recipe is unknown. It is presented here with his own comments. This is better than any spaghetti sauce I have EVER tried!
laynesleighterg9k5 8m agodelish and so easy..
Professor48 9m agoThis sauce is delicious. Before I got this recipe I use to use Ragu or Prego spaghetti sauce. It never tasted right. This just screams Italian. Thanks.
Farfadette150 1y agonever a disappointment. I prefer carrots over peppers.
Professor48 1y agoThis was some of the best spaghetti I've made so far. I made a large amount and the whole family ate off of it for the next three days. It even tasted better after a day or two. Thanks for the recipe.
cooksjoy 1y agovery easy and tasted wonderful
Mrsswill 1y agoTastes great. I changed a few things. I halved the sugar and added a Half a cup of wine, did half Italian sausage and half beef and used two can of diced tomatoes. Next time I will also blend th tomatoes more since mine cam out more like marinara.
blends 2y agoPretty good sauce. I added fresh basil and sage and the flavor is better than I expected.
