In the meantime, combine the egg, bread crumbs, onion,s Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder in a bowl. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well.
Shape into 4 patties, place in a shallow, 2-quart microwave-safe dish. Cover and microwave for 6 minutes.
While the meat is cooking, combine flour and broth in a bowl until smooth. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, basil and mushrooms.
Turn patties, drain. Pour gravy over patties. Cover and microwave for 6 to 8 minutes. Gently stir gravy, cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
While cooling, mash the potatoes.
Serve potatoes with Salisbury steak.
