Heat cooking oil in saucepan and cook onion and garlic until tender, but do not brown. Add ketchup, stir, and add remaining ingredients (EXCEPT CHICKEN). Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set sauce aside. Season chicken pieces with additional salt, if desired. Place chicken pieces bone side down over medium to hot coals. Grill 25 minutes (until bone side is well browned). Turn pieces over and grill 25 minutes more, until chicken is tender. Brush chicken frequently with sauce during last 10 minutes of grilling, using all the sauce. FastMetabolism 3y agoThis is THE BEST BBQ sauce I've ever tasted since my Grandmother's recipe!!! It is Delicious! I have been to many restaurants & bought many bottles of BBQ sauce at the grocery stores and nothing compares. I usually use it on my baked chicken rather than grilled since my apartment complex does not allow outdoor grilling on our patios and it tastes great. Every once in a while I will add a little lemon as a previous reviewer suggested but the ingredients listed are just fine. Will definitely make over and over again!
u3hush 6y agoGreat BBQ sauce! I added a little lemon juice for a littlel more acidity.
jamieo 9y agoUsed as a 3 hour marinade to produce juicy drumsticks. Cooked chicken drumsticks for 30 mins in the oven before moving to BBQ. I also used garlic powder instead of fresh clove.
