Plain old rice.... boring! Easy to add some zippy flavor by just adding some seasonings/spices to the water while cooking....
Rinse the rice
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, add the olive oil, kosher salt and the rinsed rice
Then add the selected seasonings (cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, cayenne powder)
bring back to boiling and then reduce to a low simmer.
Simmer for about 40 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed
Fluff with a fork
Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes
Serve
You can adjust the seasonings and spices you put in the boiling water to match the cuisine, meal you are serving or personal taste. Feel free to experiment! Hard to go wrong!
