This sugar cookie recipe is another all time family favorite of ours. It came from my mother-in-law and these are my husbands and daughters favorite cookie. My family and friends enjoy these cookies when ever I make them.

"To tanvi - you can find an egg replacemect at most grocery stores.

I am trying this recipe tonight to make cookies for a mothers day party. Hopefully they turn out well and i will update my review then!"

1 cup Butter
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Brown sugar
4 Eggs
3 tablespoons Water
6 cups Flour
1 teaspoons Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Nutmeg; I use 2 tsps.
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 cup Butter; for icing
1 cup Shortening *
2 lbs Confectioners Sugar*
2 teaspoons Vanilla*
6 tablespoons Milk*

Original recipe makes 72

Cookie dough - Cream butter well, add white & brown sugar slowly cream well. Beat eggs and water and vanilla in seperate bowl.

Mix & sift dry ingredients & add alternating with wet ingredients to butter & sugar. Mix well.

Cut batter in half and wrap each half in wax paper and chill overnight before rolling out dough. Roll on a floured board & cut into shapes about 1/8" thick or thicker for softer cookies.

Bake in 350 oven for 8-10 minutes on ungreased cookie sheets or until lightly golden. For soft cookies don't over bake. Cool on wire racks.

Makes 6-8 Dozen depending on the size. Be creative and make animal shapes, hearts or christmas shapes etc. I make them simple as there are no little ones around anymore.

Buttercream Icing * for icing - Cream butter and shortening add confectioners sugar, vanilla and milk, beat well, add more milk if needed to desired consistency. If you like a lot of icing you may want to make more. My family likes alot of frosting so I usually make 1 1/2 times this icing recipe.

These cookies freeze well in layers of wax paper in a tin can. Taste great right from the freezer!

A nice change from the ordinary sugar cookie. Delicious. Kids loved them. Flooded with a powder sugar icing with a touch of vanilla.

I haven't made these, I just eat them. My sissy makes them. I think these are the best sugar cookies ever. I really am not a fan of sugar cookies, but I can not pass these up. These are outrageous!!
