Suggest a better descriptionHeat oil in medium saucepan. Add chopped onion and crushed garlic; cover and cook over medium heat about 5 minutes.
Stir in tomato paste, cumin, and chili powder.
Add vegetable broth and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat; cover and simmer until well blended, about 15 minutes.
Add tomatoes, beans, zucchini, bell pepper and jalapeno (optional) to soup. Cover; simmer for 5 minutes.
Add tortilla strips, salt, and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 1 minute.
Ladle soup into bowls and garnish top with chopped cilantro and avocado slices.
