A filling cheezy comfort food casserole, the whole family will enjoy. Serve withe a green salad on the side.
Layer egg noodles to cover bottom of greased 2 qt. casserole dish. Distribute 1/2 can of tuna and 1/3 of green peas, celery soup, tyme and milk. Cover with cheddar cheese and repeat layers (3 - 4) with final topping of noodles and cheese. Bake at 350 degrees covered for 1 hour. Remove cover and bake for an additional 30 minutes until bubbling has subsided and top has browned. Let rest 5 minutes before serving. (Note: place on sheet pan during cooking to catch any spills.) Chicken or turkey can be sustituted for the tuna. Frozen pearl onions can be added to each layer if desired.
Cooking time seems long but is necessary to blend the cheese soup and milk throughout the casserole.
