Ready in 45 minutes

These bake up crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. These waffles are very light in texture and are excellent served with fruit (particularily strawberries) and topped with whipped cream. These are my hubby's favourite waffles.

Resource: New Easy Basics Cookbook, by Jerry Anne Di Vecchio.

1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 teaspoons Sugar

Original recipe makes 12 Servings

In a medium-size bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt; set aside. In another medium-size bowl, beat egg whites just until stiff, moist peaks form. In another medium-size bowl, beat yolks lightly; stir in milk and butter, and blend well. Pour liquid all at once into dry ingredients; beat until smooth. Fold in beaten whites. Perfect! Unlike with the previous comment, I found the ingredients spot-on. Enough liquid. Thickish mixture that resulted in crispy waffles on the outside and a soft centre.

Nice try, but there is no way this recipe works. Double the amount of liquid, and you may have a chance.

@sdotkling: Well, I checked my cookbook (New Easy Basics Cookbook, by Jerry Anne Di Vecchio) to see if the measurements were correct and they are, so I'm wondering if you even tried this recipe? The batter is light and airy (from the egg whites) and they bake up crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. I suggest that in the future you try a recipe before writing a an uneducated review. - Rosa 4m ago
