This tastes almost as good as grandma's old time recipe for wilted lettuce!
Put lettuce in a heat proofed bowl. Fry bacon in a large skillet till half cooked, then add onion. Cook until bacon is crisp and onions are tender. Take Bacon pcs out and put on paper towel to drain grease. Drain all but 4 Tbsps bacon grease, then add water, vinegar, and sugar. Bring to a boil and cook until sugar is dissolved. Pour onto lettuce. Add salt and pepper to taste. Toss well. Put bacon pcs ontop, then serve right away.
Make sure your lettuce is ice cold before putting in heat proof dish. Can soak it in ice water if needed.
