Worlds' Best Broccoli Rice Cheese Casserole

"This goes well with Turkey and is also a good take-along for pot luck dinners."


2 boxes Frozen Broccoli; chopped
3/4 cup Onion; chopped
2 cups Uncooked instant rice
3/4 cup Celery; chopped
1 can Cream of chicken soup
1 can Cream of mushroom soup
1 16-oz jar Cheese whiz or Velveeta
1 stick Butter; melted
1 cup Milk; optional
1 box Fresh or canned mushrooms; sliced, (optional)

Original recipe makes 6 Servings



Cook broccoli and rice; combine with all other ingredients. Place in buttered 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

I am looking for ways to sneak in vegetables, this was not a hit in our house. Not too good the next day, most of it got tossed. Just the basics all mixed together.

I made this last year for Thanksgiving. Making it Again this year. It's one of my favorites. I don't use celery. Instead I use water chestnuts!
