Pound Cake refers to a type of cake traditionally made with a pound of butter, a poutn of eggs, a pound of flour and a pound of sugar. However, any cake made with a 1:1:1:1 ratio, by weight, of flour, butter, eggs, and sugar may also be called a pound cake, as it yields the same results. Pound cakes are generally baked in either a Bundt mold or loaf pan and are often served lightly glazed or with a coat of icing.
Tip: A half teaspoon of salt per pound of seafood, and one teaspoon per pound of chicken, beef, pork, and lamb is standard, but use more or less depending on your taste and the recipe.
