Re: Help with Meal Planninghttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspx I have the exact same problem.  I was all set to buy, but now I'm not really sure, and I don't really want to buy something that's not going to fill the number-one function for which I want it.

Re: Help with Meal Planninghttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspxThanks, Renee:

I will try the two links you supplied.

My problems is that a recipe is not a menu. A menu plan includes everything that will be served at a meal but this planner limits me to nothing more than recipes. Many of the things I serve at a meal are things for which I do not need a recipe.

To make the menu planner effective I want to put everything I will be using at a meal and use that to create my shopping list. For example, along with recipes I want to use, I would list beverages, condiments, side dishes for which I don't need recipes, etc.

I thought I had found the perfect softwrare and was ready to buy. Otherwise, BigOven is great.

Re: Help with Meal Planninghttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspxIn the full version, I just click on the calendar, and drag recipes onto the days (in bogoven help, Search for "plan your meals in advance").  I don't know about the trial version, but I'm sure you can get an answer in the FAQ or help forum .  Steve seems to be pretty responsive there.

Help with Meal Planninghttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspxI am trying to decide if I will buy this software. But I am having trouble with the meal planning function. I cannot enter an entire menu, only recipes. Is that a limitation on the trial version? Or is is simply something the software won't do.

How do you cope with that limitation and still make the planning function useful?

How do you

Re: Desert to serve with lasagnahttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspx - stevemur]]>cooking commentsNew Years Dinner Menuhttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspxCod: A Biography of the Fish that Changed the World, cod has been a popular feast food since the Middle Ages. He compares it to turkey on Thanksgiving. The reason? Long before refrigeration and modern transportation, cod could be preserved and transported allowing it to reach the Mediterranean and even as far as North Africa and the Caribbean.Cakes and other baked goods are commonly served from Christmas to New Year's around the world, with a special emphasis placed on round or ring-shaped items.
In addition to the lucky foods, there are also a few to avoid. Lobster, for instance, is a bad idea because they move backwards and could therefore lead to setbacks. Chicken is also discouraged because the bird scratches backwards, which could cause regret or dwelling on the past. Another theory warns against eating any winged fowl because good luck could fly away.Text by Lauren Salkeld
