Subject: Weight Watchers New Momentum™ Plan

Time to do some reading up on this new Weight Watchers Momentum Plan. I don't know if US has started on it yet. The "Flex? Core? Let's do it together." won't apply anymore. Not sure yet how the Core people will feel about the plan not existing anymore.
I didn't lose any weight this week but it comes as no surprise. Actually I expected a gain. I don't know what happened to me. On Friday I went crazy. I went to the fridge to get 1 Aero Singles bar (2 points). I finished that and went back to fridge to write on my grocery list as there was only 1 left. I proceeded to eat the last Aero Singles bar, 3 Kitkat Singles bars (2 points each), a whole bag of Yo-Granolas which are mini granola bars 12 in a bag I think (1 point each). 22+ points of snacks AFTER  having just had an 11 point supper!!

Diane,

I think we all have an occasional day like the one you had.  This time of year it's especially difficult, when all around us, everyone is just gorging themselves on holiday treats and foods.  As long as it's just occasionally, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing.  We're trying to learn to live a lifestyle, and lifestyles sometimes include being able to enjoy the things we like.

What have you heard about the new plan?  Since I don't go to meetings, I didn't even know there was a new plan.  I think I'll head on over to the website and see what's there (if anything).

I just checked at the WWs site, but apparently the new program isn't starting here until the 8th of the month, so no information for now.

I'm still reading up on it. Apparently there is only 1 plan now.

What is the Momentum plan, and how does it work?
The Momentum plan combines the latest in scientific research with successful features of previous Weight Watchers food plans. It’s similar to the Flex Plan in that you’ll track what you eat and learn to make better choices. And it’s similar to the Core Plan in that you’ll focus on nutritious, satisfying foods and become aware of your hunger patterns, learning how to stay fuller longer. With greater satisfaction and a plan you can adapt to fit your life, you’ll be more likely to stick with your weight-loss efforts, and succeed.

What happened to the Core Plan®?
The new Momentum plan combines the best aspects of the Flex Plan and the Core Plan. Within the Momentum plan, you’ll find the Simply Filling technique, which echoes all the strategies of the Core Plan with an emphasis on portion control. If you were a Core Plan follower and want to keep to a similar plan, and/or you’re sure tracking is not for you, you can switch your POINTS Tracker into “Simply Filling” mode in your Preferences, and you’ll only track foods that aren’t Filling Foods, and just keep track of your weekly POINTS Allowance. P.S., you’ll notice that managing hunger is a big part of the new plan…a concept that was adapted from the “Comfort Zone” part of the Core Plan.

What happened to the Flex Plan?
Again, the new plan combines the best aspects of the Flex Plan and the Core Plan. If you were a Flex Plan follower, you’ll note that the plan is not drastically different…there’s still a huge emphasis on tracking and portion control; the weekly POINTS Allowance still gives you room for indulgences. But there is the new and helpful concept of Filling Foods, which will help you make wiser food choices; and the concept of Hunger Signals, which will help you avoid overeating. All in all, it’s like the Flex Plan, only with more of an emphasis on healthier choices and hunger awareness.

Another change is "Activity POINTS are now counted on a weekly basis and are debited from your POINTS® Budget once the Weekly POINTS Allowance has been used up." Not sure I like that.

Thanks.   I'm still not sure I totally get it, but we'll see.  Personally, I still think the old 1-2-3 Success was the best program ever.

For the moment, I think I'm going to just keep on doing what I've been doing (or make that, "what I should be doing").  I haven't been overeating, but not always eating properly, and I haven't been counting points.  The scale is at a standstill, but at least it's not going up.
