Subject: Another Dumb Question

I know that yeast needs to "feed" on sugar in order to activate it and make the bread rise, but will Splenda do the same thing?

I have several diabetic friends, and I'd like to make some diabetic friendlier breads.

I don't think yeast can get their energy from Splenda any more than we can.  There is nothing like it in the natural world.
If you leave out the sugar, the yeast will grow more slowly.
You could experiment with cutting down on the sugar.

A bonus could be a longer rise time, which should enhance the texture.
