Subject: page setup

Is it possible to keep the page setup changes I make to print my index cards?  My printer does not support 4x6 index cards, so I change the margins on letter paper.  That way I can print the cards.  The only problem is that with this program I need to change the settings with every card I print.  I am using the trial version, and if I can solve this problem, I will be buying the program.
Thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen,

First, just a friendly note to clarify that this discussion group is a member-created group, not officially monitored by BigOven staff -- the right place for future product-related Help questions is the Support Forum.

Have you tried changing the page margins in Internet Explorer?  BigOven uses the settings that you have for IE.

Hi Karen,

I know Steve is very responsive to user needs, so if his suggestion didn't do it for you, just ask a follow-up question in the help forums.  When a user has a technical problem, he just doesn't give up until he figures it out.  And he usually comes up with a good solution.

And, after you've learned all about what BigOven can do for you, you can come right back here to learn what other users are doing -- we've got all kinds of unsupported printing tricks that help us get more out of BigOven

Your question is right on the border between "I've got a technical problem the developer needs to help me with" and "I'd like to talk to other users about what they do".  It made me think I need to improve the description of this discussion group so people can have an easier time knowing where to go with their questions.

Welcome and Good Luck!

Thanks Renee!

I know you understand but just to clarify my earlier comment for others... I love that there are discussion groups here on every topic and that there are new groups forming all the time.  (And I'm really impressed with your work Renee on BOPTool -- that's a great tool for many users.)

We just need to make sure that if customers need help from us at Lakefront Software Inc., that we have a fairly focused (ok, "narrow" if you will) set of avenues -- otherwise, we'll be stretched too thin and won't be able to live up to our service goals.  While I'm a member of this forum, it's not an official support forum from us here at the company.

Thanks!

Thanks for your kind comments on BOPTool.  I'm looking forward to the new official BigOven publishing tools making it obsolete.

Karen,

There is an easy solution if you print from WORD -- create a new WORD document using the BOPtool template, set your custom page setup, save the document, and use it for doing all of your 4x6 card printing.

BOPtool was inspired by YAMtool for MasterCook. I used to use YAMtool with MasterCook 6.0, because I didn't really like the MasterCook 6.0 publishing tools.  Since version 1 of BigOven doesn't have robust home publishing tools, I created something to use with WORD.
