Subject: Another tip -- use up leftovers in your fridge!

Americans waste an extraordinary amount of food each year.  One great way of stretching your food dollar is to use up leftovers in your fridge.

One great way to do it is to use BigOven's Leftover Wizard to find out what you can make.  Or, simply visit BigOven.com and enter a few ingredients into the search box, separated by spaces, e.g., "spinach chicken".

I found a new use for leftover fresh herbs.  We purchased a pre-packaged salad that incorporated herbs such as, dill, parsley and cilantro.  I would have never thought to put these into a salad, but it was very delicious.  In the future, if I had any leftover herbs, I wouldn't think twice about throwing them in with the greens.

Great tip!!!  don't be afraid of using leftovers!  It's a great way of being creative and experimenting with food.  I once had Singapore Style Sardines, after finding a tin of sardines, one portion of noodles and some assorted veggies that needed to be revived.  It doesn't matter if it goes wrong, and you can discover some amazing successes.

Thank you so much for alerting me to the "left over wizard".  I am fairly new to this program, and my husband refuses to ever eat left overs. Today I have small amounts of beef, chicken, and cheese in the fridge and no defrosted package of meat to cook tonight. I went to the wizard, and decided I could make a layered taco casserole.  This is a very valuable resource!!  Thank you again.
