We have two basic rules: (1) Keep the BigOven Community Family-Friendly, and (2) Don’t Cross the Line.
BigOven is a family-friendly website. That means everything on it is suitable for the whole family. In particular it means that that postings should not be made that are considered harmful for children, which may imply restrictions on engagement in, or depiction of, crude language, nudity, sex, violence, horror, etc.
The community features on BigOven.com involve a certain level of trust. We
trust you to be responsible. We trust you to keep in mind that we have people
of all ages, all cooking-experience levels, all ethnicities, nationalities,
religions – you name it -- using the site.
You can trust us to respond in a timely way to your concerns. You can
trust us to adhere to our
privacy policy
. In the event of a dispute, you can
expect us to listen to each side and be reasonable and deliberate.
Here are some common-sense rules that will help you steer clear of
trouble:
BigOven.com is a family-friendly site meant for the exchange of food and
cooking-related topics. This means it is not for profanity or sexually
explicit or suggestive content. If this describes your content or material of
any kind, don't post it on BigOven.com. Doing so puts it at risk of
immediate deletion and could result in a ban from the site.
Our site is here to inform, connect and entertain. It's not here to promote your business -- please don't post links or site references that are off-topic. Off-topic spam is subject to deletion after review.
Discussion, imagery or videos depicting graphic or gratuitous violence is
not allowed.
Respect copyright. Only post recipes or images that you made or that you are authorized to use. This means don't post pictures you scanned from magazines or commercial sources, and don’t post recipes that are already posted on commercial websites.
However, recipes that are purely a list of ingredients and instructions to
prepare them (with your own original descriptive content) can, in general, be
shared. Please refer to the following guidelines from the U.S. Copyright
Office on Recipes: http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl122.html
We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular
points of view. But we do encourage you to keep it family-friendly,
constructive, and on-point. It’s just cooking. It’s supposed
to be fun.
Things like predatory behavior, stalking, threats, harassment,
intimidation, invading privacy, revealing other people’s personal information,
and inciting others to commit violent acts or to violate the Terms of Use are
taken very seriously. Anyone caught doing these things may be permanently banned
from BigOven.
Everyone hates spam. Don’t create misleading descriptions, tags, titles or
thumbnails in order to increase views. It's not okay to post large amounts of
untargeted, unwanted or repetitive content, including comments and private
messages.
We think that a single user account should be enough for one person. Please do not create multiple accounts per person.
Please take these rules seriously and take them to heart. Don't try to
look for loopholes or try to lawyer your way around the guidelines—just
understand them and try to respect the spirit in which they were created.
Okay, this one is more about us than you. BigOven staff review every photo
and video posted to the site, and, through the course of daily business, also
look through many of the recipes and comments on the site. If they clearly
violate our community or business guidelines, we remove them. Accounts may
be penalized for Community Guidelines violations and serious or repeated
violations can lead to account termination.
Remember that this is your community! Each and every user of
BigOven makes the site what it is, so don't be afraid to dig in and get
involved!
Have fun with the site. There's a lot to see here, and lots of folks
creating and sharing great recipes, photos and videos.
Let others know what you think. When feedback is provided with respect and
a constructive attitude, it can be a great way to make friends, share stories,
even make your cooking better and more enjoyable. So leave tips,
comments, ratings, link in recipes you like, answer Foodie Q&A – there’s lots of
ways to make BigOven your own.
You may not like everything you see. Some of the content here may even
offend you. If you feel that any behavior violates our Community
Guidelines, please bring it to our attention at support @ bigoven.com, with a
specific link to a page we should investigate.
Thanks for reading!
