What's for dinner?
Hey all, I'm Nick and cooking, being one of my favorite hobbies, has brought me here to view recipes, get inspiration, attain new cooking tips, and to share a few of my own creations as well. I live in the subtropics of Florida and I love the afternoon thunderstorms just as much as I love the Florida sun. I like the idea of individualistic self-expression; I consider my kitchen and bedroom my "studios", since thats where my art and creations come together. Aside from cooking, I enjoy sketching, and I actively practice gymnastics and winterguard(a mix of dance and flag/rifle/sabre spinning). Point of truth: Food Network is my favorite and most often watched channel; Alton Brown and Ina Garten are my favorite celebrity chefs. For my day job, I'm studying at my university to become an electrical engineer. I've often thought of going to culinary school, but I think I'd prefer to just cook out of enjoyment and not as a requirement. Anything else? Umm, I love listening to an odd combo of rock and acoustic music genres, I like watching the weather outside, I prefer tea over coffee, but also like coffee too, and I'm finishing this sentence while listening to Rocket Man(acoustic cover) by Jason Mraz; good song, check it out! So yeah, I'll be around on this site from time to time.

I'll try pretty much anything, it just better be good! Particularly, I love most fish and shellfish, especially snow crab and rare yellowfin tuna. My favorite herbs are cilantro/culantro, basil, and mint. I most often cook chicken in all shapes and forms, but I'll mix it up and also cook shrimp, clams, kielbasa, pork loin; the list goes on. My favorite fruits are limes, lemons, and raspberries, and the coolest looking fruit EVER is dragonfruit. My favorite veggies would have to be asparagus and leeks (and mushrooms, even though they're not vegetables). One thing that I particularly do not like is ground beef, mainly in such dishes such as casseroles, meatloaf, and meatballs; hamburgers on the grill are good though. I like cooking for my family on most nights of the week, and I love making special occasion meals, such as on Mother's Day or on birthday's. My favorite dish to cook is both boneless buffalo chicken wings and fish/crab soft tacos (those recipes will be posted!). I also love desserts on a level that is health concerning; they're always a day brightener and I have a sweet tooth to boot. I pretty much love bright and light dishes, and I love picking up on strong, big flavors and smells.
