I am a young professional, working as a chemical engineer.  I like to bake to relieve stress (mostly lots of cookie experiments and some bread and scones).  My sister-in-law always jokes about how I am a bit of a mad scientist in the kitchen, but it has lead to some great recipes (and food disasters!).  Check out my banana pumpkin seed coffee cake, it's super moist and amazing!

I enjoy eating pasta the most.  I love to bake, and I love sharing my experiments with my family and friends.

Sheri's Pancake

Sheri's Pancake

Excellent flavor. I am still working on the heat setting to cook it through without getting the outside too dark. Definitely need to use whatever size pan you want your pancake to end up, since it will spread to the edges. — WitteFamily 11/23/2012
Slow-Cooker Carne Guisada

Slow-Cooker Carne Guisada

I made the mistake of not seasoning the meat, so that part of the dish was relatively bland. Regardless, this was still very tasty. Next time I will follow the directions! — sbjonas 10/24/2012

Moroccan Chicken and Roasted Cauliflower

Fantastic. This was a big hit at a lunch get together. — Blaknblula 8/25/2012
Good n' Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Good n' Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

This dough is amazing. Personally, I think the chocolate to dough ratio is too high because my cookies are barely holding together coming off the sheet because of all the chocolate. Next time I will be using half as many. — sgrishka 6/10/2012
Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie Bars

Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie Bars

This is missing the amount of cocoa powder, peanut butter chips, and chocolate chips. I used 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder, a bag (10 oz) of PB chips, and a very small amount of dark chocolate candy coating that I keep in a squeeze bottle in the fridge for garnish. I used peanuts instead of pecans to make it extra peanutty. Very good, although the brownie part was a bit dry. I think 1/3 c. cocoa would have been better. I will definitely try these again! 4/16/2012
Spicy Granola (no oil)

Spicy Granola (no oil)

I loved this recipe when I found it for being oil free. My only complaint was that it needed more flavor, so I doubled up on the cinnamon. It's so tasty! The cayenne gives it a building heat, which the dark chocolate helps to ease. — Blaknblula 9/14/2011
Granola--Fat Free Ovo

Granola--Fat Free Ovo

Tasty overall. I think it needs a bit more cinnamon than the recipe calls for, but I also love cinnamon. It's a great base recipe for an oil-free granola, though, so I am going to use this to make all kinds of variations. 9/11/2011
Lemon Goat Cheese Cake

Lemon Goat Cheese Cake

Absolutely delicious. Super light and fluffy, a perfect dessert for any kind of spring or summer occasion. I can't wait to make this one again! — Blaknblula 8/29/2011
Curried Turkey Breast

Curried Turkey Breast

I thought it was tasty. We grilled this on the panini press and served it with asparagus. 8/13/2011
Pumpkin Stout Brownies

Pumpkin Stout Brownies

Super moist brownies. The bitterness of the batter depends on the hoppiness of the beer you choose! I had a bake off with Left Hand Milk Stout, Guiness, Young's Chocolate Stout. Surprisingly, the Milk Stout won. The Chocolate Stout were not as moist (higher alcohol content in the beer). The Guiness landed somewhere in the middle, but tasted great. If you don't like the flavor, try a different stout! :-) — Blaknblula 8/13/2011

Cilantro & Lime Chicken

Excellent flavor. I left the chicken to marinade overnight in the refrigerator. — CookingPassion 2/2/2011

Delicious! I actually managed to not ruin these pancakes (they are like kryptonite for me, heh). Will definitely be sticking this one in my recipe binder! 1/22/2011
Sweet Potato Souffle

Sweet Potato Souffle

This was amazing! I love sweet potatoes, and I find this a classier dish than the candied version with walnuts and marshmallows. — Sheila965 11/25/2010
Crock Pot Rice Pudding

Crock Pot Rice Pudding

Tasty pudding, but a little on the egg-y side for me. 8/28/2010
Cinnamon Peach Shortcake

Cinnamon Peach Shortcake

It is not necessary to split the cake into layers if you find that excessive or if the cake is too crumbly. I just cut off the top to flatten it and then spread all of the peaches and whipped cream on top. [I posted this recipe.] — Blaknblula 7/10/2010
Amaretto Dream Cupcakes

Amaretto Dream Cupcakes

Amazing flavor, even though I omitted the almonds. Looking forward to trying it again when I have some almonds available, but they are great without it! 4/23/2010
Amaretto Butter Frosting

Amaretto Butter Frosting

I used 2 cups of powdered sugar, which was a little on the thin side if you want to pipe your frosting. I would recommend 2 1/2 to 3 cups if you want typical store-bought frosting consistency (beat with a mixer!). 4/23/2010
German Apple Pie

German Apple Pie

If you cut the apples to thinly, they will bake too well and turn into mush. I usually cut the apples into quarters and then thirds (so 12 pieces per apple). This gives a good texture without being too thick. [I posted this recipe.] — Blaknblula 4/18/2010
