Dark Balsamic, Soy and Honey Glazed Grilled Northwest SalmonGood glaze. Nice for when you want do a little something different with salmon.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad with Pepper VinaigretteGreat dish for when the weather's getting warm. Exactly what you want to be tasting this time of year. Looking forward to making it a few more times this summer.

Shrimp and "Grits"This was very cool and interesting as a dish. Also VERY rich, between the shrimp and the cream cheese in the grits. I added the optional shredded cheese to the "grits", but I don't think I would again. I lost the earthiness of the cauliflower underneath all that bold cheese. I think I liked the shrimp and greens (I used turnips) better than the cauliflower grits, but I can't really complain about any of it.

Spaghetti with White Wine and SeafoodOh man, was this great. I had to use canned clams instead of fresh, but even so... superb. Definitely a new favorite.

Grilled Fish TacosGood stuff. My only gripe was that the onion in the salsa overpowered everything else. I'd recommend starting with maybe a quarter of an onion, and adding more to taste. Besides that, I enjoyed this recipe.

Crock Pot Lil SmokiesTasted good, but it seemed like way too much sauce. I used two of the smaller sized packages and wound up with a LOT of leftover sauce. Also a little bit runny. I'll maybe use a little corn starch or something something to thicken it up next time. But the flavor was great.

Baked Southwestern Egg RollsVery tasty. Nice amount of heat and a good blend of flavors. I did add some shredded chicken, and that was excellent. I'll probably go the unhealthy route next time and deep-fry them, though. A little crunch would have made them perfect.

|
Crab RangoonNot precisely what I was expecting. The onion flavor pretty much drowned out everything else. I'd say half a bunch would be sufficient, maybe less. I'd also recommend deep-frying. I didn't get very good results with the baking method.

Quesadilla BurgerReally tasty, but kinda messy to make and eat. We had trouble keeping everything together during assembly. That said, all the flavors were great.

|
Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry - Michael -It really couldn't be simpler to make, and all the flavors worked well together. I used round steak instead of hamburger, and it turned out fantastic.

Oma's Chops And NoodlesThis was a nice change-up from doing beef stroganoff in the crockpot. Similar flavors, but it was definitely its own recipe. My chops came out a tiny bit dry in the middle, and I'm wondering if it didn't have to do with the broiling... maybe I'll try just pan-browning them next time. I think adding mushrooms and onions (as suggested by a previous reviewer) would be fantastic. I also might try serving it over rice instead of egg noodles.

Spicy Chicken LasagnaPretty good. There's a lot of different flavors happening in this recipe. For me, they didn't always mingle well. The seasoning for the chicken was unusual to me, but tasted seriously fantastic. But I didn't think the green peppers on top really worked with the rest of the dish. But as the poster points out, it's about experimenting and finding what YOU like. As a side note (and not really affecting my rating of the food), the recipe can be kind of a beast to work with the first time. The ingredients list isn't subdivided into the various fillings, so you might want to jot down which ingredients go in which filling before you get started cooking.

Greek Macaroni and CheeseGood stuff. Nice mix of flavors, all the tastes mingled well. Only the chicken seemed to be overwhelmed. I'm thinking I may grill the breasts next time, then slice and add them in at the end, to better preserve their flavor. Overall, though, great recipe!

|
Zucchini PieGreat recipe for when you have extra zucchini on hand. I might dabble with adding a little ham next time, just for kicks, but the recipe was perfect as is.

Slow cook: Braised Pork RaguIt came out less "saucy" than I expected, but the flavor was good. Paired with just pasta, it was maybe a bit rich for my tastes. I definitely enjoyed trying it, though.

Cajun Blackened Spice Mix And Blackened FishI used this rub on grilled chicken, after I was no longer able to find a good store-bought blackened season. This is a great recipe. Very spicy (not a bad thing for me, but I'll probably dial it back next time for the kids), but just a bit too salty. I'll use less than listed next time. Otherwise, it's damn near perfect.

Chicken ShawarmaDelicious! And relatively easy to make. It even went over well with the kids. I was using a charcoal grill, so I pounded the whole chicken breasts down to an even thickness before grilling, and then cut them into strips afterward. I also couldn't find any straight tahini, so I used hummus as the thickener for my sauce. I will definitely be making this again.

|
House of Chaos Spaghetti PieI agree with the other reviewers: halve the cream cheese. Eight ounces is just too much. Otherwise, this tastes great! The sweet/sour of the cream cheese works nicely with the salty/spicy of the creole-seasoned spaghetti sauce. Making the pasta into the "crust" is also a neat idea, but I'll admit I'm not completely sold... It seems to make the dish just a little more complicated to eat.

Irish Style Cottage PieA very good recipe. Next time, I'll use a leaner ground beef, since the filling came out a bit greasy. But it had a great flavor!

|
Pams Shrimp and Sausage GumboThis came out decent, although I think I'd prefer the chicken version. The flavors were better blended after sitting overnight in the fridge. I'd say 20-30 minutes is the bare minimum for simmering, I think leaving it for closer to an hour would create better results.
