What's for dinner?

Now that I am older I am enjoying a variety of foods I used to shun, such as lamb, scallops, oysters, cooking with butter... Three years ago we moved from the L.A. area to the beautiful and bountiful Central Coast of California, I am thrilled with locally and humanely raised livestock, fresh organic veg, local fish, wine... it's incredible, and overwhelming.  I have only recently started cooking, my hubby used to do it all.  He is a natural cook,  organized and neat.  I am a bit more frenetic, I need a recipe, and can make a mess like you would not believe.  I am good at proteins, casseroles, stews and soups, but actually doing an entire meal,  is daunting for me.  That is my goal, to do it, at least, almost all on my own.

I love to eat fish, almost any kind.  I dream of the day I find lobster and crab that taste like I remember it should taste.  I dream of the day I make scallops that taste like the best ones I have ever had.

I love making Indian food, it is so therapuetic, rack of lamb, soups and stews.  I have to be careful, although my good HDL is fabulous, my bad is, well, bad.  I truly believe that eating a lot of salmon has kept me alive, so far.

Shepherd's Pie (gordon Ramsey's)

This is the recipe form the F Word for Shepherd's pie, but the original is prepared with lamb; it is Cottage Pie with beef. Gordon's recipes for the two are similar, however.
