I live in Saint Petersburg, Florida. And as much as I like living near the water, I am not a beach person. Go figure. Years ago, I used to love sailing, and did at every opportunity that presented itself. I also started to study music at the same time. I don't think you need more than one guess as to which activity won out. I am pretty much a home body, which is a good thing, because, I lost a leg to cancer in 2011 and since have had to learn to walk all over, or at least do the best I can given the available options. I have learned how to cook from a wheelchair, which really isn't as bad as it sounds. I can do pretty well.
I remember when I was just a wee lad growing up in Georgia how we would all pile into the family car and visit my maternal grandmother. My maternal grandfather passed away when Mom was quite young and both my father's parents passed away shortly after I was born. I really felt cheated, but my Grandmother did her best to spoil us every chance she got. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner was always special. If we did not visit my Grandmother, she came to visit us. And, she loved to cook. I learned mostly from watching, although, I can do pretty well given the time. I also learned to bake at an early age. I don't do so much of that any more. I do like to try, but I usually bake for someone else since I can't exercise as I used to, I really have to watch the weight. My favorite recipe is a Cornbread & Sausage stuffing wihch I submitted. I got the recipe from the web, and later saw almost the same recipe on the outside of a package of Jimmy Dean sausage. It comes very close to the recipes that my family used around the holidays, except I do not bake the Cornbread Recipe that accompanies the Stuffing Recipe. I am glad that so many people have rated this as "favorite" and "Try Soon'"
Bon appetit, y'all,
Almost any cake or pastry, although I have a family recipe for a diabetic frendly Applesauce Rasin Whole Wheat Oat Bran muffin that is really great.
