Slow-cooker Black Bean Soup

I may have overcooked this, but it was pretty bland. My family liked it anyway.

Excellent and delicious!

Lasagna with homemade sauce

Lasagna with homemade sauce

Very good recipe. I used the non-boil noodles. Also, for me it never works to "layer" the ricotta after the meat sauce. Next time I will just mix the two together to save time. My husband wanted the turkey spicier, but I loved it the way it was.

General Tso's Chicken

General Tso's Chicken

This was excellent! Incredibly delicious. I used red pepper flakes, because I didn't get enough "heat" from the whole red peppers, and I like it spicy.

Thai Grilled Pizza

Thai Grilled Pizza

This was delicious! I baked it in the oven, rather than grilling it. Even my husband who is a "traditionalist" pizza guy loved it. Yum.

Tamale Pie

Tamale Pie

Very easy, delicious, hearty meal. We devoured this. The density of the cornmeal (which becomes more like a polenta) adds great texture to balance the meat portion. This would be great for football parties, or a frosty night. But we loved it in the heat of summer.

World's Best Lasagna

World's Best Lasagna

I think there must be some mistake with this recipe, like twice too much ricotta. I made this (of course following precisely the directions) and it was a gloppy inedible mess. Even my teenaged boy wouldn't eat it, and we had to throw it out.

Thai Pork Burritos

These were so delicious. Next time I would add more red chili for more of a kick.

Easy Mini Quiches

Easy Mini Quiches

We didn't like the texture of these, which was quite mushy, sort of like wet bread pudding.

Bette's Monkey Bread

My kids gobbled this up, and it was quick and easy.

Creole Peppy Burgers

Creole Peppy Burgers

My fussy kids ate these up and had seconds. The only thing I changed was that I cooked the onions with the beef, which I believe was an omission from the recipe. Wonderful!

Original Cobb Salad-Brown Derby

Original Cobb Salad-Brown Derby

This salad was a treat to eat. My whole family, kids included, loved it. This is the first salad in awhile that my husband and I didn't have to finish off for the kids. Great!

Original Cobb Salad Dressing-Brown Derby

Original Cobb Salad Dressing-Brown Derby

I've become too used to low-fat or non-fat dressings, and the oil in this was just too much for my palette. I would try it with more vinegar, or less oil. The salad was fantastic!

Mahogany Broiled Chicken with Smoky Lime Sweet Potatoes and Cilantro Chimic

Mahogany Broiled Chicken with Smoky Lime Sweet Potatoes and Cilantro Chimic

There are some steps omitted from this recipe, it didn't make sense. The instructions call for some ingredients that aren't on the list, such as butter and olive oil. It is unclear how much to use. Also, for the work involved, the taste just wasn't worth it, and I typically don't mind high maintenance recipes.

The sauce is great for gyoza. I didn't make the shumai
