I live on the coast about 20 miles south of San Francisco. I enjoy cooking for and with my husband and two kids. I love cooking with family and friends, but also find that cooking alone can be relaxing too. I love great food with good wine and enjoy taking cooking classes on vacation or near home in wine country. When I'm not cooking, I spend my free time with my kids and often run on coastal trails near my house.
We have great fresh seafood where I live, and luckily my most favorite foods are crab, shrimp, fish and mussels. I'm inspired by French and Italian cooking and make an effort to buy fresh local produce from our farmer's market whenever possible. I also enjoy cooking Thai and Asian food, and was lucky to take a cooking class while visiting Thailand a few years ago. Eating in restaurants is harder with little kids, so I cook at home almost every night. I collect recipes and almost always cook with one, as I find it helps me keep better track of ingredients and proportions. I also plan out my weekly meals so I know exactly what to buy at the store.
