I am a retired Computer Engineer living in South Carolina.  I can't say I love to cook but do love to eat.  I tried BigOven to print 3x5 cards of some of my favorite recipes from when I was a kid.  I soon discovered the thousands of available recipes and the ability to scale the sizes and make grocery lists.   I am a retired Computer Engineer living in South Carolina., I can't say I,love to cook but do love to eat., I tried BigOven to print 3x5 cards of some of my favorite recipes from when I was a kid., I soon discovered the thousands of available recipes and the ability to scale the sizes and make grocery lists. Thai foods are my favorite followed closely by Szechuan.  As you can guess I like my food on the spicy side.  When a recipe calls for cooking in oil I will routinely use Chili Oil instead.  My all time favorite dish is Singapore Chili Crab.  I discovered it on one of my trips for work and love it.  I am looking forward to trying some Chili Crab recipes I see here.

Grilled Roast Chicken

We like it. This makes enough rub for 5 chickens. Just used the last of my first batch of rub. — RKBCooks 11/18/2010

General Tso's Chicken

The wife really liked this recipe. I like a lighter sauce than this makes but it was very good. I used lite soy and the next time I might cut the soy sauce a little bit. As the previous reviewer mentioned it isn't clear what to mix the cornstarch with to thicken the sauce. I used about a 1/3 cup of water and it worked fine. You could also mix with that leftover pineapple juice if you want it a bit fruitier. 5/17/2010

Chicken Satay

Chicken Satay

This came out real good. I took the easy way and cooked on the gas grill. It should be cooked over a wood or charcoal fire like they do in Singapore. — cleverkt 7/1/2009
Peanut Dipping Sauce (Satay)

Peanut Dipping Sauce (Satay)

I have had Satay in Singapor and this is close but not quite. Seemed a little bitter. I will make it again but try a little honey in it. — Cyrano 7/1/2009
Vintage Hamburger Goulash

Vintage Hamburger Goulash

This is a great tasting goulash. I went a little heavy on the chile powder, added some garlic powder and a small can of mushroms. It came out very spicy and extremly tasty. — webtexan 6/30/2009
Popcorn Balls

Popcorn Balls

I learned as a kid to pop popcorn in a large sauce pan 1/2 cup at a time with just enough crisco to halfway cover the kernals and about 1 tsp of butter. It's an art. A fine hair is when you stick a fork into the boiling mixture then remove it and a 4" or longer wispy hair forms where it drips off the fork. [I posted this recipe.] — KeithD1949 6/23/2009

Good idea putting the recipe id in the "What's for dinner?" box! We just added a feature that will recognize and automatically hyperlink the recipe in there if you put the recipe id# in. Thanks for the idea!
