Turkey Pot Pie

I live in the San Francisco bay area and when I am not working, out on my bicycle or running on the local trails, you can find me in the kitchen.  I love trying new recipes and experimenting with different seasonings and flavors.  I often will make up a recipe after browsing the internet.

Eggplant Veggie Lasagna

Eggplant Veggie Lasagna

I made this recipe again last weekend for vegetarian guests. I added all the original ingredients, but I also added an another layer consisting of sliced mushrooms and pasilla/poblano peppers. I sauteed both the mushrooms as well as the peppers prior to adding them in order to reduce the liquid before layering in the pan. YUMMY!!!

Korean Barbecued Beef

Korean Barbecued Beef

LOVE this recipe. I've made this it probably 10 times or so.... tonight, I decided to combine this with some broccoli and rice noodles for "beef and broccoli" Few changes/notes to do this: 1. for the sauce I only use 2 Tbsps sugar 2. To make sauce for the broccoli, I doubled the sauce recipe and used half for marinade and half for the sauce (in hind sight could have used only half additional recipe for sauce -- we had plenty of sauce) 3. Cooked the beef as instructed on the grill 4. Made a pot of rice noodles using instructions on the package 5. Heated wok pan on high heat. added 1 tbsp of peanut oil with one clove of garlic, added one head of broccoli sliced into small strips, plus one small onion sliced. 6. Once veggies are slightly cooked added the sauce until heated, then added the 1 tbsp cornstarch, mixing the entire time. 7. Once sauce thickens, added the rice noodles and the meat that is off the grill. YUM!

Mom's Boeuf Bourguignon

Mom's Boeuf Bourguignon

This was a special Sunday Recipe that my mom made for years. I love it because it is so easy and so super rich. I never seem to have the small onions and so I always just cut up a large yellow onion into large pieces. I always serve this over mashed potatoes. Also, I cook it for hours in the crock pot until the meat is tender as can be. Hubby loves this one.

Home Cooked Taco Shells

Home Cooked Taco Shells

Oh yeah.... I got a new cook top and it took a little time to figure out the settings, but the shells came out amazing. So much better than the store bought junk! Not too difficult an effort and totally worth it! Just ask my hubby. Try with Beef Tacos recipe: 177392

Beef Tacos

Beef Tacos

I have made this recipe a million times... tonight I tried it with ground turkey instead of beef for a healthier option and it was delish! I think I will use Turkey from here on out! Don't forget to do the shells by hand as well. The home made shells make the recipe and it is not that much more of an effort. You can find taco shell recipe at Big Oven Recipe 177391. Enjoy!

Mom's Pork Chop Casserole

Mom's Pork Chop Casserole

I'm not a big fan of recipes that use campbell's creamy soups. Call me a snob, but I prefer to make my own sauces. However, this is a definite exception; as I posted this recipe. This is an old time family recipe that my mom made and my husband loves. Easy to make very flavorful! Enjoy! I've made a million times and it is always a crowd pleaser!

Turkey Pot Pie

Turkey Pot Pie

I had leftover turkey and so I tried this recipe. This recipe is so yummy. I thought there would be too much filling for my pie shell but it was ok. I added some poultry seasoning as well as 2 cups of turkey instead of 1.5 cups and a tad bit more milk. I think it would also be good with some mushrooms in there as well. I made my Aunt Sarah's pie crust for this recipe and it was perfect with this pie! You can find Aunt Sarah's Pie Crust recipe on big oven. Big Oven Recipe #175108

Jan's Roasted Red Pepper Soup

Jan's Roasted Red Pepper Soup

I LOVE this recipe... made it so many times and I have varied it based on mood. You can make it chunky or smooth (blend or not), creamy or not (if using less or no cream just add more beef broth and/or tomato sauce), spicy or not. Very versatile

Lentil Soup with Smoked Sausage and Spinach

Lentil Soup with Smoked Sausage and Spinach

I adapted this online recipe by adding spinach and additional seasonings. The lentils cook so quickly; this can be an easy dinner during the work week. Delicious and pretty healthy too (if you use chicken sausage)

Oven Roasted Carrots

Oven Roasted Carrots

I basically hate cooked carrots.... but oven roasted carrots work for me! I used "purple" carrots in this recipe which are orange on the inside. This is a very simple recipe; Please do not overcook the carrots and do not forget the lemon juice at the end... keeps it fresh and tasty!

Lemon-garlic Shrimp Skewers

Lemon-garlic Shrimp Skewers

OK.... I originally posted this recipe ages ago.... I made this again tonight.... LOVE this recipe. But was reminded that your really need to rinse the shrimp REALLY well after the salt/sugar soak or your shrimp dish is too salty. Also this time I added some crushed red pepper for extra kick! Still love this recipe!

Portobellini Mushrooms with Spinach and Blue Cheese

Portobellini Mushrooms with Spinach and Blue Cheese

As I was putting away groceries and saw the bag of spinach and mushrooms on the counter, I decided to try to combine them. The blue cheese was the perfect topping for this side dish which goes so wonderfully with beef. It was very easy to make.

BBQ Pork Ribs

BBQ Pork Ribs

I love ribs and I came up with the recipe after combining several various recipes for the ribs. Since I do not have a smoker, I needed a recipe that worked in the regular oven finished on the grill. I think you can adjust the seasoning by adding more cayenne as well as through your choice of BBQ sauce.

Lisa, thank you for the medal you awarded me for South-of-the-border Grilled Pork Tenderloin - recipe #59871. However, I do not deserve it! I did not post the recipe. I merely posted the photo on the recipe after trying it. When BigOven was first started, well over a hundred fifty thousand recipes were downloaded from various sources. This is one of those downloaded recipes. You can tell by the low recipe number, the lack of any member posting credit, plus the recipe states, "Posted to recipelu-digest Volume 01 Number 176 by Reggie Dwork ~~ltreggie~~at;reggie.com> on Oct 28, 1997" (the download recipe source). Also, I see you've made some excellent contributions to BigOven...I look forward to seeing many more in the future. God's smile on you, your kitchen and family!
