Potatoes 54

Potatoes 54

My family loves this recipe. Growing up it was a little gem in a novelty potato shaped cookbook my parents bought in Idaho, and this recipe is actually called something else in the book, but it was on page 54 so it eventually got re-named in our family to Potatoes 54. Now I make it for my own family and extended family, and there are never any leftovers at holiday dinners and potlucks.

Grilled Flat Bread

Grilled Flat Bread

We also use this as a quick pizza dough. Just grill one side, then flip it, add sauce and toppings while the other side grills. If the cheese doesn't melt before you have to take it off the grill just pop it under the broiler for a minute.

Chocolate Pudding Fudge Cake

Chocolate Pudding Fudge Cake

I love this cake sooo much. It is my go to birthday cake for myself (my husband actually made it for me this last year, but if he didn't do it, I would have :) It is so moist and tastes just as good the next day. I love it with a little ice cream, or just with a big glass of super cold milk. I also love it with milk poured over it, it just can't be bad with all that chocolatey goodness!

Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Giant Cinnamon Rolls

@Bmw1980 - I never measure for the frosting, it's just a basic butter cream icing recipe. I think I probably melt about 1/4 C. of margarine in a large bowl, then add a teaspoon of vanilla and pinch of salt, and then just stir in powdered sugar until it's thick (like frosting thick, thicker than I would want for these). Then I just thin it out with milk until it is the consistency I like on the cinnamon rolls. Careful though, add only a small amount of milk at a time (it makes it thin in a hurry). I should probably write down exact measurements next time, but that's just how I always make it. Probably a little different every time, but oh so yummy each time too.

Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Giant Cinnamon Rolls

If you use bread flour, you don't need to add the wheat gluten (bread flour has more protein and gluten than AP flour already). The wheat gluten just gives it a better texture, if you don't have it, you can leave it out, and the rolls will turn out good, they just turn out a little better with a little more gluten to help give it structure. We just made these again last night and they are so tasty, but I have to get rid of them soon, because I ate 2 of them by myself today (I can't be trusted), so I may try to give the rest away soon (shouldn't be hard, who doesn't like cinnamon buns?)

Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Giant Cinnamon Rolls

I know it's bad, but I never measure when rolling them out. I just roll them out to a large rectangle (probably the size of a large cookie sheet), and then use the same cookie sheet to bake them.

Hot Dog Chili New York Style (no beans)

Hot Dog Chili New York Style (no beans)

This was really good, it's easy to throw together and then just let it simmer down to the right consistency. You can also adjust the spices if you prefer more or less hot.

Gyro Burger Patties

Gyro Burger Patties

I love gyros, but there isn't a really great greek restaurant close to me, so when I found this recipe I had to try it. I had tried a similar recipe where you make a sort of lamb meatloaf and use that for the filling, but it had a weird texture and just wasn't very good. This is the BEST home made gyro recipe I have found. The meat with the spices smells and tastes just how you want a gyro to taste. Try it out, you won't be dissapointed.

Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Giant Cinnamon Rolls

I love these cinnamon rolls, they are by far the best ones I have ever had. I tried a bunch of different recipes before I found this one, and now this is the only one I make. The rolls are huge and soft, the crumb is really nice on the buns, and the filling is the perfect amount for these rolls. Try them out you won't be dissapointed.

Easy No Rise Pizza Crust

Easy No Rise Pizza Crust

I posted this recipe. I tried out a bunch of different pizza dough recipes until I finally found this one. It's perfect, it tastes great and it is really quick to throw together (most other recipes required a lot of time for the dough to just sit there, usually overnight, to become the correct consistency. While those doughs are tastey, they aren't very practical if you want to make pizza quickly for a family, and honestly, this dough tastes pretty much just as great as those doughs). Give this one a try.

Chicken Enchiladas with a twist

We really like this! We had lots of leftovers..we put meals together using the enchiladas and refried beans. They reheat really well.

Thanksgiving Leftover Bread

Thanksgiving Leftover Bread

I submitted this recipe, it is fantastic and it makes your house smell heavenly as it cooks (just like thanksgiving). It also makes really nice toast. This is a really fun treat especially around the holidays.

Easy Navajo Fry Bread

Easy Navajo Fry Bread

I posted this recipe, and we love it at our house. It's a quick easy way to make a soft navajo fry bread that stays soft after frying. We love to make extras and whip up some maple frosting to put on them for desert.

Copycat Chili's Southwestern Eggrolls Recipe

Copycat Chili's Southwestern Eggrolls Recipe

These are incredible, really really tastey. They are a bit labor intensive, but worth it. We always quadruple the recipe since it's just as much work to make 6 as it is to make 24+, and then we just stick them in the freezer and use them as needed.

Anges Apple Bread

Anges Apple Bread

This recipe is actually from an old Andy Griffith cook book (called Mayberry Recipes or something). I remember my dad got it for my sisters and they used to make this all the time growing up. I'm so glad I finally found it online, it is such a keeper recipe. We made it last night, we used jonigold apples, and the batter seems a bit strange at first (I wasn't sure I was making it correctly because the batter was so dense and thick, I figured I must have missed something). But it baked up perfectly, and it tasted incredible. Give this recipe a try, you won't regret it. BTW - we left the nuts out since we don't like nuts in our sweet breads, so I don't know how it would be with the nuts, but it's fantastic without them.

Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo

Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo

I followed the recipe except I added a bit more broccoli since it just looked like it needed a bit more. The recipe was good, it tasted like I would expect one of those boxed mixes to taste, but that's not really a bad thing considering it's meant to be an easy no frills recipe, and everyone in my family seemed to eat it right up (especially my 1 year old, he inhaled his whole plate).

Kenny Rogers Roasters Corn Bread

Kenny Rogers Roasters Corn Bread

I burned mine a little and they were still good. I served them with chili. I liked the real corn. I'll make them again but just cook them less time.

Buttercream Frosting

Buttercream Frosting

It was good. I put red food coloring in it and used it on a chocolate cake. I'd use it again, it was a good generic frosting recipe.

Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie

Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie

It was easy to make. My three year old liked it. We used our homemade better than bisquick mix.

Meatless Spanish Rice

Meatless Spanish Rice

This was so good! I couldn't eat enough of it! My husband also really liked it and said it reminded him of the rice he used to have when he lived in Guam. It was really easy to make! I didn't have any salsa so I used a cup of Rotel, but a cup ended up being a whole can. Also, I drained the Rotel before I put it in. I'm definitely making this again! And sharing this recipe with my friends.
