What's for dinner?
Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken
My name is Andrea and I'm 30 years old.  I live in Murrieta, CA (San Diego born and bred!) with my husband Jared.  We have been married 10 years.  We have two AWESOME kids.  Jacob is 10 and Brenna is 7.  I love to read, write, travel, go on road trips (to somewhere or nowhere!), LOVE the beach and hanging out with family and friends.  I have a very keen intrest in the paranormal and I love cookbooks!

Recipes I've Posted (all 5)

I love chinese and Thai food but I also love to just grill a burger or hot dog!  Chicken and ground turkey are big in my house.  My husband loves seafood but the kids and I hate it, so it's not around.  Most people say they learned how to cook from their mom, but I learned from my dad.  He was (and still is) a great cook and inspiration for me.  If Im having an off night and don't know what to make for dinner, I can call him, tell him what I have on hand and pretty soon, I have a great meal!

3 Envelope Roast

3 Envelope Roast

I'm not a huge fan of roast. It seems the meat just never has any flavor, despite having seasoned it. But my dad bought us this 7 pound roast and I needed a recipe to cook it up, and I found this one. I cut the roast in half so as to adhere to the recipe, but also so it would fit in my crock pot. I seasoned the meat with pepper, garlic and onion and browned in oil with garlic. The end result was really good. Still not a fan of such a bland meat, but the gravy it made was spectacular! I could have eaten it by itself.

Old-Fashioned Crumb Coffeecake

Old-Fashioned Crumb Coffeecake

I found this recipe the other day while looking for something to use up sour cream. This sounded really good, as I had been having a craving for coffee cake. It came out really well! I was one of the impatient ones who poured all of the butter into the crumble mixture at one time so the crumble looked strange but it was delicious none the less. It took longer than the recipe suggested but that was not big deal. My husband and kids gobbled it up.

Spaghetti Carbonara

Spaghetti Carbonara

I've made carbonara in the past and it was less than successful but this one turned out really well. My kids devoured it and I had two helpings myself :) Some people said that once it cools down, it gets dry and reheating makes it worse. My husband works late and so I had to reheat it for him, and what I did was put a little splash of chicken broth in the bottom of a skillet and put the noodles right in there with it. As they heated up, the broth soaked into the noodles, bringing back that creamy texture to the sauce. Will make again!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Ok, this was just amazing!! I doubled the sauce recipe, but still only used 1/2 cup of soy sauce and 3 tablespoons of Sriracha. I used 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts and cut them into bite sized pieces. The end result was fabulous!! My husband scarfed it down, shaking his head and saying "mmmmmm" with every bite. My 6 year old daughter loved it, too, as did I. I will definitely make this again. Thanks!!

Chicken Pot Pie Casserole

Chicken Pot Pie Casserole

This was really good! I made a few changes to make it fit my family's tastes. I used a can of cream of mushroom with garlic soup and cream of chicken. I added fresh mushrooms and a splash of worchestire for some extra flavor. My husband loved it and asked why I don't make it more often. Thanks!

Spaghetti Carbonara

Spaghetti Carbonara

Maybe I did something wrong, although the recipe is pretty clear cut, but mine came out pretty dry. Not to say that it wasn't still good, but I was expecting something a bit creamier. I chopped up the garlic after it cooked with the bacon and tossed it in with the pasta. My family liked it and my six year old daughter begged to have the leftovers for lunch the next day.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Caramelized Baked Chicken

I made this last week and it was delicious! I used drumsticks, followed the directions exactly as shown and it was a huge hit! I did marinate the chicken in the sauce for a few hours before baking it. The sauce smelled so good, it had me drooling before it was even cooked. My kids devoured it and asked for seconds. We had a lot of leftovers so I made rice bowls with the chicken and sauce the next night and it was just as excellent. Thanks for this recipe, will definitely make again.

Southern-Style Oven Fried Chicken

Southern-Style Oven Fried Chicken

I made this for dinner tonight. It DID NOT go over well. As per other reviewers suggestions, I added a lot of extra spices. I spiced the cornflakes as well as the flour mixture and it still came out bland. The chicken had a weird consistency, too. My husband, who will eat anything put in front him, took one bite and said he was done. I could not get my kids to eat it either. I don't think I'll be making it again.
